Bentley Town Council Approves Lot Sale and Arena Slab Replacement Project
The Bentley Town Council convened on March 25, 2025, for their regular meeting, addressing several key items impacting the community. The meeting began with an Indigenous acknowledgement, recognizing the town's location on Treaty 6 Territory and the homeland of Metis Nation Region 3.
One of the most significant decisions made was the approval of the sale of Lot 48, Block 1, Plan 2320333, located at 5601 48A Street Close within the Sunset Heights Subdivision, to Dale John Steinke and Dori-Ann Lynn Steinke for $64,900 (inclusive of GST). Deputy Mayor Grimsdale motioned for the approval, which carried. This sale marks continued residential development within the Sunset Heights Subdivision.
Council also voted to award RFP QU20251 for the Arena Slab Replacement Project to Reward Construction for $1,252,670.57 plus GST. Councillor Valiquette motioned for the approval, stating the importance of ensuring "work begins immediately to ensure the timely opening of the Arena this fall." This project is crucial for the functionality and safety of the town's arena, a vital recreation hub for residents.
In other business, Council accepted, as information, correspondence from Lacombe County Council and Krista Gardner regarding the Town's West Zone Meeting. They also acknowledged information regarding job postings for a Returning Officer, Summer Students, and a Campground Caretaker. These postings highlight the town's focus on ensuring smooth operations during the upcoming election and summer season.
The meeting adjourned at 6:59 pm, with Mayor Rathjen and CAO Marc Fortais signing off on the minutes. Residents can anticipate seeing progress on the arena slab replacement in the coming months, as well as the addition of a new family to the Sunset Heights community.
