Bentley Council Holds Public Hearing on Southeast Area Development Plan

BENTLEY – The Town of Bentley Council convened a public hearing on November 25, 2025, to gather community feedback on a significant long-term development plan for the town's southeast quadrant.

The focus of the meeting was Bylaw 255-2025, the Bentley Southeast Area Structure Plan (ASP). An Area Structure Plan is a high-level framework that guides future land use, infrastructure development, and zoning for a specific area. This plan will shape how the southeast part of Bentley grows in the coming years.

The hearing, held at the Bentley Seniors Drop In, began with a formal presentation by Albert Flootman of Parkland Community Planning Services. Flootman outlined the details and vision of the proposed ASP for the council and attending residents.

Following the presentation, the floor was opened to the public. The main purpose of the hearing was to allow residents to voice their opinions on the proposed bylaw. Attendees who had registered to speak were invited to present their views, whether in favor of or in opposition to the plan, with each speaker allotted five minutes. The process also allowed for written submissions to be formally entered into the record.

This public hearing was a crucial step in the legislative process. The feedback and submissions gathered from the community will be considered by the council as they deliberate on the final approval of the Bentley Southeast Area Structure Plan.
