Bentley Awards 5-Year Garbage Contract to GFL, Sells Town Lot for $1,000
Bentley Town Council unanimously awarded a five-year residential garbage collection contract to GFL Environmental Inc. during its regular meeting on Tuesday night.
New Garbage Collector for Residents
The decision means GFL will take over residential waste services from the town's current provider, Can Pak Environmental Inc. GFL submitted the lower of two bids, at a rate of $11.00 per bin per month.
This new contract directly impacts household utility bills. The town administration confirmed this was the lowest responsible bid received through the public request for proposals.
Veteran Banner Program Approved
A delegation from the Rimbey Legion presented a proposal for a Veteran Banners Program, which would see banners honoring local veterans displayed in town. Council unanimously accepted the proposal, clearing the way for the program to be implemented in Bentley.
Unanimous Decisions Mark Key Votes
There was no recorded opposition to the night's major business items. The motions to award the garbage contract, approve the veteran banner program, and sell a town-owned lot all passed with unanimous support from council members present.
